Oak Wood Flooring

What is Oak Hardwood?

Start with the look you want, then pick the oak that delivers it. White oak reads calm and neutral. Red oak shows stronger cathedral grain and a warm undertone. Both are durable hardwoods with broad finish options. Boards come narrow to extra wide, with long lengths and grades from select to character. Matte lacquer and UV oil keep glare low and care simple. In Los Angeles, oak hardwood performs best when rooms are conditioned to lived-in humidity, subfloors are made truly flat and dry, and expansion spacing is planned before work starts. Plan layout from a focal wall, align seams with sightlines, and choose trims that clear doors and cabinets. Tip, white oak’s higher tannins work well with smoked and reactive looks; sample first to lock in tone. Tip, quarter-sawn options add stability and show subtle ray fleck. Maintain with a neutral cleaner, a microfiber mop, and felt pads under furniture. If future sanding matters, engineered choices with 2 to 6 mm wear layers are available. Handle full oak boards in natural light at the EKO FLOORING showroom in Culver City, compare grain and color, and leave with a precise scope, schedule, and quote.
